Introduction

TabMod ("we", "our", or "us") is a Chrome extension that helps you manage, organize, and sync your browser tabs. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we handle, how we handle it, and your rights over that data.

Our core principle: All data stays on your device by default. TabMod is designed to work fully offline without any data leaving your computer. Cloud sync is an optional, Pro-only feature that you must explicitly enable.

    needed for the extension to function. No tracking scripts, no analytics

1. Data We Collect

1.1 Local Data (always collected, never transmitted)

When you use TabMod, the following data is stored exclusively on your local device using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API:

We never have access to this data. It never leaves your computer unless you explicitly enable cloud sync.

1.2 Cloud Sync Data (optional, Pro feature)

If you choose to enable cloud sync, the following data is transmitted to our cloud provider (Supabase, hosted in the United States) and stored encrypted:

1.3 Payment Data

Pro subscriptions are processed by Lemon Squeezy (Paddle). We do not see, store, or process your payment details. Credit card numbers, PayPal addresses, and billing information are handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy under their privacy policy.

2. Data We NEVER Collect

🚫 Never collected under any circumstances:

Your browsing history
Cookies, session tokens, or authentication credentials
Passwords or form data
Content of web pages you visit (beyond title and URL)
Personal identity information (name, address, phone number)
Location data
Health, financial, or sensitive category data

3. How We Handle Your Data

3.1 Encryption

In transit: All communications with our servers use HTTPS/TLS 1.3 encryption.
At rest: Cloud-synced data is stored in encrypted databases (AES-256).
Local: Data stored locally uses Chrome's built-in sandboxed storage, which is encrypted at the OS level.

3.2 Data Retention

Local data: Retained until you uninstall the extension or click "Clear All Data" in settings. Uninstalling TabMod will remove all locally stored data.
Cloud data: Retained while your account is active. You can delete all cloud data at any time from within the extension settings. Deleted data is purged from our servers within 30 days.

3.3 Third-Party Services

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any advertising or tracking SDKs.

4. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or California, you have the following rights under GDPR and CCPA:

Right to Data Portability	Use the export function in settings to download your data
Right to Object	Do not enable cloud sync — all data stays local by default
Right to Rectification	Edit workspace/folder names directly in the extension

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data:

All cloud data encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256)
Supabase Row-Level Security ensures you can only access your own data
No tracking scripts, analytics cookies, or third-party embeds
Regular security reviews of our codebase
Minimal permission model — the extension only requests permissions essential for its function

6. Children's Privacy

TabMod is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us at privacy@tabmod.app and we will delete it.

7. Changes to This Policy

We will notify users of material changes via:

An in-extension notification on the next launch after the policy update
Updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
A notice on our Chrome Web Store listing

We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
